BREAKING: Pedestrian hit and killed in East Providence

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WNLE) — A woman in her 80’s was killed when she was hit by a pick-up truck in East Providence Friday evening.

Police said the woman was crossing the street when she was hit around 6:30 p.m.

She was transported to Rhode Island Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

The victim’s identity has not yet been released pending notification of the family.

According to officers, they are not expecting to charge the driver.
