COVENTRY, R.I. – The Coventry Police Department have charged a 15-year-old male with disorderly conduct after investigating an incident where he sent out a “Snapchat" video that appeared to show him loading a handgun.

According to police, the video was captioned "don’t come to school tomorrow."

The suspect turned over an airsoft replica type gun when officers went to his home.

Police do not believe that the student presented a credible threat. The student admitted to making the video and cooperated with the officers investigating.

The student has been placed on home confinement, and was ordered to have no contact with the victim and school.

He was also ordered to undergo a Mental Health Evaluation and he is also restricted from using social media.

The Superintendent of Schools Craig Levis says he is grateful  for the proactive work of the Coventry Police Department.

Coventry High School will have class tomorrow as scheduled.

Extra patrols were placed at the school Thursday morning out of an abundance of caution.

The Chief of Police emphasizes that they do not believe there is any current threat to the high school.
