Bridge joint replacement starting Sunday could affect drivers in New Bedford

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation said that crews will begin performing joint replacement work Sunday night.

MassDOT said the work will take place on the bridge that carries Rockdale Avenue over Route 140.

Work will occur Sundays to Thursdays from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning.

The department expects the work to conclude on Aug. 18.

It added that traffic alterations will occur during work hours and at least one lane will remain open at all times.

Drivers should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution.
