Bristol County DA releases identity of man killed in New Bedford homicide

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office has released the identity of the individual who was killed on Sunday morning in New Bedford.

In a release, the District Attorney said that New Bedford Police received a call around 1:13 a.m. from residents on Earle Street who heard gunshots and found an individual, later identified as 44-year-old Aaron Britto of New Bedford, suffering from multiple injuries.

When officers found him, he was located between the rear of Morna Lounge and Grill and Harmony House, which is a residential addiction treatment center.

Britto was rushed to the hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

A Massachusetts State Police detective assigned to the DA’s office, New Bedford Police and Homicide Unit prosecutors are actively investigating the homicide.
