Bristol County DA’s Office releases identities of Gabriel House fire victims

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office has released the identities of seven victims who died in the tragic assisted living facility fire.
On the night of July 13, firefighters from multiple agencies responded to a fire at the Gabriel House Assisted Living Facility to find multiple occupants trapped inside.
Nine people were killed in the fire, and 30 residents were injured.
The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office released the following victims’ identities:
- 64-year-old Rui Albernaz
- 61-year-old Ronald Codega
- 69-year-old Margaret Duddy
- 78-year-old Robert King
- 71-year-old Kim Mackin
- 78-year-old Richard Rochon
- 86-year-old Eleanor Willett
Additionally, a 70-year-old woman and a 77-year-old man succumbed to injuries sustained in the fire. Their identifies have not yet been released due to family notifications pending.
The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office said the cause of the fire does not appear to be suspicious, but remains under investigation.
“My heart goes out to all of the victims, their families and all of those impacted by this terrible tragedy,” District Attorney Tom Quinn said in a statement. “I would like to commend the first responders for their efforts in bringing many of the residents to safety while being confronted with very difficult circumstances.”
