Bristol house fire causes injuries and displacement to occupants

BRISTOL, R.I. (WLNE) — The Bristol Fire Department responded to a fire at a home on Coggeshall Avenue Saturday morning.

The department said it arrived around 10:15 a.m. to find heavy smoke and fire coming from the home that required a second alarm be struck.

The fire was determined to have been caused by smoking material being disposed of in a trash can.

Two occupants of the home were transported for injuries, and one firefighter was evaluated on scene.

One dog died as a result of the fire, and four people were displaced.
