Bristol School Administration Building evacuated over suspicious letter

PROVIDENCE (WLNE)- Bristol police evacuated the Bristol Warren Regional School District Administration Building Wednesday after an employee received a letter containing an unknown white powder.
According to a statement from Captain Brian Burke, it was later discovered the employee had received the letter at home and brought it into the building this morning.
Initial testing on scene did not indicate the substance was a threat, however a sample as been sent to the Rhode Island Department of Health for further analysis, police said.
Hazmat units from East Providence and North Providence responded to remove the substance, while the Bristol Fire Department secured the building.
No one was reported to have sought medical attention at this time; the investigation remains ongoing.
