BOSTON (WLNE) — District Attorney Kevin Hayden said a Brockton man was arraigned Tuesday for allegedly robbing two separate pizza delivery drivers at gunpoint and then shooting at a Boston police officer.

According to court documents, 23-year-old John Lazare was charged with armed robbery, assault and battery with a firearm, assault with a dangerous weapon, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, possessing large-capacity feeding devices, possession of ammunition with no FID card and receiving stolen property.

On June 7, court records state Boston police spoke to a pizza delivery-person who said they were robbed at gunpoint on Cedric Street. The assailant, later identified as Lazare, brandished a gray handgun and robbed the delivery person of all their cash.

Detectives conducted a sweep of the immediate area but did not locate any suspect.

On June 9, after surveillance footage was reviewed, officials determined Lazare was back on Cedric Street where police said he was committing another robbery.

Authorities said another delivery driver was held at gunpoint and robbed of their cash. As a responding officer approached Lazare, they said he began shooting at the officer.

The officer was shot in the back and the foot and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Other officers on the scene reported seeing Lazare on a nearby rooftop, from which he eventually jumped, landing in an alleyway, injuring his leg.

Lazare was found to be in possession of a Smith and Wesson 9mm handgun with one round chambered and 10 in the magazine.

Lazare was held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for June 23.

He also has two outstanding warrants for his arrest from Salem and Quincy.
