Brockton resident dies after hit-and-run in Fairhaven

FAIRHAVEN, Mass. (WLNE) — The Fairhaven Police Department said that a fatal car accident occurred on Main Street on Aug. 3.

Police responded to the area of Riverside Cemetery near the Route 195 overpass around 7 p.m.

The driver of a moped was seriously injured and transported to to St. Luke’s Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office said the victim was 29-year-old Alexis Alvarez.

Police said a preliminary investigation determined that the moped and truck were both traveling southbound at the time of the crash.

The driver of the truck left the scene. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call 508-997-7421.
