Brown accepts sexual assault task force’s recommendations

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ Brown University has accepted all the recommendations outlined in a recent report by the school’s Sexual Assault Task Force.
President Christina Paxson says in a May 18 letter to the Ivy League college’s community that some recommendations have already been implemented, while others are underway.
The final report of the task force was released April 7. The report says the university should implement a unified policy toward sexual and gender-based harassment and violence that would apply to all members of the university community.
It also calls for enforcement of the policy through a newly created Title IX office, led by Title IX Program Officer Amanda Walsh.
The report was released following a student protest in March for what some say was the school’s mishandling of a sexual assault case.
