Brown shooting, MIT murder may be linked, ABC reports

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — UPDATE 5:00 p.m.: ABC News sources say that a warrant is now out for the arrest of a suspect in connection with the shooting.

ABC News reported that the shooting at Brown University that killed two people and the murder of an MIT professor in his home may be linked.

Sources said that the link was developed in the last 24 hours, when investigators into both cases compared notes.

ABC News also reported that investigators believed they are close to identifying a suspect.

Law enforcement are still searching for the person who shot and killed two Brown University students and wounded nine others in a mass shooting on Dec. 13.

Nuno F.G. Loureiro, a 47-year-old physicist and fusion scientist, was shot on Dec. 15 at his home in Brookline, Massachusetts, and died the next day.
