Brown shooting victim Ella Cook to be laid to rest Monday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A 19-year-old Brown University sophomore who died in Saturday’s mass shooting will be laid to rest in her home state Monday.
Ella Cobbs Cook was one of the two students who died at the hands of a gunman in the Barus & Holley engineering building shooting.
According to an obituary from Dignity Memorial, a church service will be held for Cook at the Cathedral Church of the Advent in Birmingham, Alabama.
The service will be followed by visitation and a private burial.
“Ella is the best big sister ever. She is protective, responsible, and selfless,” said Cook’s sister Mary Hamner.
The obituary also said, in part:
Ella was known for her wide array of interests, from being with her precious friends, to babysitting so many children who were special to her, to teaching young people in Bible studies, Sunday School, and academic subjects. Ella dearly loved children. In fact, she believed her highest calling would one day be to have children of her own. She had a love for piano, dance, spending time outdoors in Hale County, and travelling anywhere – especially where French is spoken!
