Brown to Host Bryant and URI in First Three Weeks of Football Season

Providence, R.I. – Brown’s 137th season of intercollegiate football will feature the 100th game against the University of Rhode Island with the two Ocean State teams playing for the Governor’s Cup under the lights at Brown Stadium on October 3.
The Bears kick-off their season at home against Bryant on September 19 in the second meeting against the Bulldogs.
Coach Phil Estes’ squad, who posted a 5-5 record in 2014, will launch their Ivy League schedule on September 26 with a night game against Harvard in Boston.
The historic 100th game between Brown and URI on October 3 will feature a 6 pm kick-off at Brown Stadium as the two teams battle for the Governor’s Cup. The Bears hold a 71-26-2 series advantage, with wins in the last four meetings. Two previous Rhode Island Governors have played in the Governor's Cup game: Phil Noel, Brown Class of 1954, and Donald Carcieri, Brown Class of 1965.
Brown concludes its non-league schedule on the road, traveling to Worcester, Mass, on October 10, for the 60th meeting with New England rival Holy Cross.
The Bears’ Ivy League home opener will be played on October 17 against Princeton. Estes’ squad also hosts Ivy home games against Penn (October 31) and Dartmouth (November 14).
Brown will play Ivy League road games at Cornell (October 24), at Yale (November 7) and Columbia (November 21).
