Bryant Class of 2020 finally crosses stage

A year later graduates said the ceremony felt like a homecoming and reunion with their classmates.

SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WLNE)- Following a year of remote learning and working the Bryant University Class of 2020 finally crossed the stage and turned their tassels in 2021.

On Saturday more than 500 students and their families gathered on campus for a formal commencement ceremony that was originally put on hold due to COVID-19.
Last year, students had to say their final goodbyes well before their final exams.

A year later graduates said the ceremony felt like a homecoming and reunion with their classmates.
“It feels incredible! It’s a beautiful day and it feels great to be here. I have tears of joy this is amazing,” 2020 graduate Meaghan Angers said.
Graduate Ben Schmitt added, “It’s great to be home honestly, awesome to be back on campus and right when we got here my friend looked at me and said it feels great to be back.”
Even though they learned virtually in 2020, graduate Gwen Ream said those lessons have helped her in career.

“I started my job in February and now I’m willing to be more adaptive and do things in a different way. This isn’t normal…life just hasn’t been normal, and it prepares you for something different every time.”
