Bryant University placed coach on leave of absence before alleged hit-and-run

NORTH SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WLNE) — Bryant University placed head basketball coach Jared Grasso on a leave of absence before his alleged Oct. 1 hit-and-run.

Police released body camera footage on Thursday from an officer speaking with Grasso after the incident.

Bryant released the following statement to ABC 6:

“On September 27, Bryant University placed head basketball coach Jared Grasso on a leave of absence from coaching duties.  He remains suspended from all university-related duties and restricted from campus while Bryant continues its external investigation.”

Grasso was formally charged with a misdemeanor on Oct. 4.

He is set to be arraigned on Tuesday.
