Burrillville crash snaps telephone pole leaving driver hospitalized

BURRILLVILLE, R.I. (WLNE) — Burrillville police are investigating a Tuesday afternoon crash that left a telephone pole snapped in half and the vehicle wrapped around a tree.

According to Burrillville police, Jake Suprenant, 30, of Burrillville, was traveling north on Wallum Lake Road at a high rate of speed at approximately 3:30 p.m. when he lost control of his truck.

The vehicle left the road, striking and halving a telephone pole before rolling over and striking a storage box on Wallum Lake Road.

The truck then continued rolling until it struck and wrapped around a tree at the residence.

Pascoag and Harrisville Fire Department personnel assisted at the scene, with rescue personnel removing Suprenant from his vehicle using the Jaws of Life.

Suprenant was transported to Zambarano Hospital where he was then Life Flighted to Rhode Island Hospital.

He is currently in stable condition and the crash remains under investigation.
