Burrillville man killed in Glocester accident

GLOCESTER, R.I. (WLNE) — A Burrillville woman is in critical condition from injuries sustained in a late night crash in Glocester Wednesday that killed her husband.

Police say 27-year-old Samuel Smith of Connecticut was leaving Cady’s Bar on Route 44 at approximately 10:00 p.m. when he lost control of his car.

That is when he hit the car with 73-year-old Lawrence Castonguay and his wife, 71-year-old Marie Castonguay.

The impact sent their car into a tree on Putnam Pike.

Fire crews extricated the couple from their vehicle and transported them to Rhode Island Hospital where Lawrence was later pronounced dead.

Marie was admitted and remains in critical condition with serious bodily injuries, according to police.

Smith was arraigned and his being held on $10,000 surety bail.
