Woman who crashed car in North Smithfield charged with larceny

BURRILLVILLE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Burrillville Police Department announced the arrest of a woman who crashed a stolen car last week in North Smithfield.

According to police, 51-year-old Jennifer Bernard of Burrillville was arrested for larceny greater than $10,000.

On June 11 at approximately 8:00 p.m., police were dispatched to 265 Lapham Farm Rd for a larceny complaint.

Officers spoke with the construction foreman, who advised he stopped by the jobsite to check on the building and left his vehicle running while he stood nearby.

A pedestrian, who was walking by, climbed into the driver seat and drove off.

The vehicle crashed a short time later in the Town of North Smithfield.

She was transported to the hospital for her injuries, and is expected in court.
