Butler Hospital union workers to hold press conference in 12th week of strike
WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — The union strike at Butler Hospital is now in its 12th week.
Today striking workers will hold another press conference on their push for a new contract.
Last week, the union rejected Butler’s “Last, best and final” offer from hospital owner Care New England.
Workers found issue with a raise in deductibles for healthcare plans and insufficient pay rates.
Today, the SEIU 1199 represented workers will discuss their efforts to secure a fairer contract.
In response to last week’s vote, a spokesperson for Butler blamed the union for not sharing objective details about the hospital’s proposal, saying union leadership is “Focused on elevating their political stature and personal profiles.”
The worker’s press conference is set for 9:30 a.m. outside Butler hospital.
