Heavy rain and wind this afternoon into the overnight hours

Impactful storm incoming. This potentially high-impact storm is forecast to bring heavy rain and damaging winds. The heavy rain and snowmelt will lead to flooding across the region. Rivers and streams are at risk of flooding along with the coast including Narraganset. Widespread power outages are anticipated due to the damaging winds that will begin to pick up intensity by the evening. Main impact of this storm will be overnight through pre-dawn hours.

Today’s evening commute expected somewhat of an impact from the rain and tomorrow morning’s community may be spared if this systems exits by 4 or 5 in the morning. The flood threat for river and streams will prevail…we’ll be dealing not only with the rain that has fallen but also the snowmelt.  The coastal flood threat is mainly during high tide 6 p.m. this evening and 6 a.m. tomorrow. Conditions improve tomorrow with mix of sun and clouds. Temperatures also a factor with values climbing overnight into the 50s and falling to the mid-40s by tomorrow afternoon. Drier late week with sun in the mid-40s before the next system Friday night to Saturday. This one may bring heavy rain and strong to possibly damaging winds.
