Candlelight Vigil Held At Ri State House For Jan. 6 Anniversary

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Indivisible Rhode Island and local residents gathered at the Rhode Island State House Tuesday afternoon for a candlelight vigil marking the fifth anniversary of the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection.

According to the Indivisible RI, the vigil was held to honor the Capitol staff, law enforcement officers, elected officials, and the Americans impacted by the event.

Indivisible RI said the insurrection challenged the “sense of the strength and stability surrounding American democracy.”

The vigil was also held on the first day of the 2026 legislative session, which Indivisible RI said is “an intentional convergence that underscores the truth that democracy is not confined to Washington, D.C.”
