It was a wild ending to a bachelorette weekend for a group of friends visiting Newport. Their car crashed right through the front door of a bridal shop in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The white Mercedes was involved in an apparent hit and run, according to Deputy Chief Drew Elder of the Newport Fire Department. The women were uninjured when the vehicle finally came to a stop inside Andria Bird Bride. The other vehicle took off after the accident.

The three story building at 225 Spring Street, which houses a mix of retail and residential space, has significant structural damage. All the dresses were safely removed.

The shop has been boarded up and no one is allowed inside until it can get the green light from a structural engineer. At least one tenant was displaced.
