Car stolen out of Providence driveway

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A family car was stolen right out of the driveway Monday morning in Providence. It was warming up in a gated area when 2 people jumped in and took off. The entire thing was caught on surveillance video.
The family says they do this every cold day have never had any reason to worry before. Now without that car, it’s going to cost them nearly $100 a week to get their kids to school.
It’s been a stressful start to the week for a Providence family, their car stolen right out of the driveway.
“We work really hard to get what we have; our belongings and now you can’t even have your cars in your backyard? You have to be really careful about leaving it on to warm it up,” says Yenifer Martinez.
She says while they’re always careful about locking their gate, it was unlocked this morning because they never thought they had to worry about this.
“Everything is really nice in the neighborhood, and then this morning was not the same,” she says.
It happened around 7:30 this morning. The car had only been running a few minutes when security cameras on the house next door caught 2 people in hoods, who look like they’re only teenagers walking down the street, looking around and then hastily backing out of the driveway.
“I had to get my friend to bring my kids to school so I could stay home and file the report and now I have to pay someone to bring my kids to school because I don’t have a ride for them now,” says Martinez.
She’s a teacher and says she’s more concerned about why these boys would do this then getting her car back.
“I work with kids, I have two kids of my own like where is this going? This isn’t good. These kids are supposed to be going to school,” she says.
Providence Police are investigating.
The car they’re looking for is a green 1994 Toyota Corolla with the license plate GP458.
