Man who Struck Pole and Totaled Several Cars at Dealership Identified

JOHNSTON, R.I. – Police have identified a man who collided with a pole and hit several parked cars on a dealership lot Sunday in Johnston.
48-year-old Robert Tripp was traveling on the eastbound lane of Hartford Avenue at approximately 4:30 a.m. when he struck a pole and about 6 to 7 parked cars at the Grieco Dealership.
Tripp was conscious when rescue arrived. He was transported to Rhode Island Hospital where he now remains in stable condition.
According to police, speed appears to be a factor.
The Johnston Police Department Reconstruction Team is remains assisting with the investigation.
There were no passengers in the vehicle.
