Car strikes tree in North Kingstown resulting in serious injuries

NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WLNE) — An early evening Sunday car crash required the driver to be physically extricated from the vehicle after striking a tree in North Kingstown.

The incident happened on Post Road near the intersection with Hopedale Road at around 5 p.m.

The driver of the Subaru Outback in the crash sustained serious injuries and was transported by North Kingstown Rescue to RI Hospital for treatment.

The driver remains in critical condition.

Speed was determined to be a factor in the crash, which is under investigation by the North Kingstown Police Department.
