NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) _ A Catholic high school teacher in New Jersey has been charged with possessing child pornography.
Middlesex County prosecutors announced charges Thursday against Brother John Spalding, a history teacher at St. Joseph High School in Metuchen.
His attorney entered not guilty pleas on charges of possession and viewing of child pornography and endangering the welfare of a child. Spalding posted $75,000 bail and attorney William Fetky says he will return to his home in Rhode Island.
Prosecutors said Spalding maintained child pornography on a computer at the school last June.
Erin Friedlander, a spokeswoman for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Metuchen, told NJ.com that diocesan officials reported Spalding to authorities.
