Caught on camera: Driver slams into 2 parked cars in Warwick, speeds off

This happened at about 4:30 a.m. Saturday on Draper Avenue.

WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — A woman in Warwick is asking for the public’s help finding the person who is caught on camera driving into her and her boyfriend’s cars — and speeding away.

Warwick police said this happened at about 4:30 a.m. Saturday outside the couple’s home on Draper Avenue.

“I just heard a boom, and a boom,” a neighbor told ABC 6 News, recounting the moments when she heard the incident.

Samantha Stephensen said moments later that neighbor woke her up explaining what happened.

“I was almost in tears,” Stephensen said after she saw the damage.

Her 2020 Toyota Camry, that she purchased in December, was hit so hard that it popped the hood of the car open and it moved about 5 feet up the street from where it was parked the night before.

“I still am paying off the loan for my car that I don’t even have anymore as well as the deductible for my insurance since we haven’t caught them or anything,” Samantha said.

The Camry had to be towed away because of the extensive damage.

Samantha said she is still waiting to hear more from her insurance company, but the auto-body shop told her it’s likely totaled.

Her boyfriend’s car sustained serious damage to the driver’s side.

Stephensen out with a message to the driver who took off.

“I would just really like them to own up to it because it’s really messed up to do to someone in your community — anyone really,” Samantha said.

Warwick police confirmed that this is an ongoing investigation and they are still looking for more surveillance footage.

Anyone who recognizes this car is asked to call Warwick Police Department.
