Celtics’ Brown signs richest contract in NBA history, reports say
BOSTON (WLNE) — The Boston Celtics and Jaylen Brown have agreed on a multi-year deal Tuesday that will be the largest contract in NBA history, according to reports.
ESPN and the Athletic’s Shams Charainia reported that Brown signed a 5-year, $304 million deal with the Celtics.
Charania added the contract is fully guaranteed and comes with a trade kicker and no player option.
The deal comes after Brown was subject to trade rumors and after Boston lost Marcus Smart and Grant Williams this off-season.
Brown, 26, has spent his entire career with the Celtics after he was drafted by the organization in 2016.
He was the second leading scorer for Boston last year behind Jayson Tatum, averaging just over 26 points per game.
The two-time all-star has averaged 20 points or more per game every year since the start of the 2019-20 season.
