Celtics fan arrested for throwing bottle at Kyrie Irving after Irving stomped on Celtics logo
BOSTON (WLNE) – A 21-year-old Braintree man was arrested for throwing a bottle at former Boston Celtic and current Brooklyn Net, Kyrie Irving, after Sunday night’s Celtics game with the Nets.
Cole Buckley, 21, is charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Witnesses told police that he grazed the head of Irving with a Dasani Water Bottle.
Irving suggested that Boston fans tend to make racist comments before making the trip to face the Celtics in Game 3 of Round 1 of the teams’ playoff series.
And after the game on Sunday night Irving appeared to stomp on the face of the Celtics’ Leprechaun logo at mid-court.
Buckley then threw a water bottle at Irving as he left the floor and went into the tunnel towards the locker room.
He was quickly identified and arrested.
TD Garden says he’s subject to a ban for a life from the arena.
