Celtics fans travel from near and far for championship parade

BOSTON, Mass. (WLNE) — Fans came out in droves for the 2024 Boston Celtics victory parade.

“It’s been awesome,” Lauren Jennings from Coventry said. “The environment has been absolutely insane. It’s amazing to be here.”

Boylston Street became a sea of green as fans gathered from all over the county to catch a glimpse of the NBA Champions.

“We’re from Delaware,” Derek Fisher said. “Drove all the way here. Left last night around 12:00 a.m. and got here around 5:30 a.m. this morning, but it was worth it. 16 years we’ve been waiting for this.”

Other fans felt such a connection to the team they traveled from overseas to join the party.

“We came over just to come and party,” Darragh O’Leary from Ireland said. “Went to the games and stuff last week. It was insane.”

“I’ve been following the NBA my whole life and always supported Celtics,” Tom Murnine added. “I remember my first basketball memory was watching them win in 2008, so this is special.”

No matter where fans came from, there was a semblance of unity on the streets of Boston as fans reveled in the success of their beloved team.
