Celtics use big fourth to earn Game 3 win over Golden State, take 2-1 series lead
BOSTON (WLNE) — The Boston Celtics only relinquished the lead twice in a 116-100 win over the Golden State Warriors Wednesday night to take a 2-1 series lead.
Boston trailed at 2-0 before dominating the first half to take a 68-56 lead into the break.
However, another dominate Warriors’ third quarter led by Steph Curry’s 15 points in the frame saw the Celtics fall behind 83-82 after a Curry three with just under four minutes to go in the quarter.
Boston was able to take the punch and Marcus Smart answered right back with a trey of his own to put the Celtics up 85-83, a lead they would not surrender.
The Celtics used a 9-2 spurt to open the fourth and would outscore Golden State 23 to 11 in the quarter to take the 2-1 series lead heading into Friday night’s Game 4.
Boston was led Jaylen Brown who had 27 points, 22 coming in the first half
Jaysen Tatum added 26 points on 9 of 23 shooting from the floor.
Curry led the Warriors with 31 points.
Boston will host Game 4 Friday night at 9 p.m. on ABC.
