Central Falls celebrates plan to bring tennis courts to the community
CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. (WLNE)- Leaders and community members from Central Falls celebrated the city’s plans to open tennis courts in the near future on Tuesday.
The new courts are going to be located at Sacred Heat Park on Sacred Heart Avenue.
Central Falls is currently the only town or city in the state that doesn’t have any tennis courts.
“Former Mayor James Diossa had a vision and plan in place to bring these courts to life at Sacred Heart and expand tennis programming in our city. These plans have been in place for years through a partnership he launched with USTA New England, and we’re finally now moving closer to the start of construction,” said Central Falls Mayor Maria Rivera.
The courts will be replacing the basketball court that is currently at the park, which officials say will remain open through September.
The city said that once the court is closed, residents will be able to use the courts on Higginson Avenue.
