Central Falls to celebrate and turn over keys to new single-family homeowners

CENTRALL FALLS, R.I. (WLNE) — Two former vacant lots on Washington Street and Hood Street acquired by Central Fall’s Redevelopment Agency have been transformed into two state-of-the-art, single-family homes and will be given to two local families today.
The event is an effort to boost homeownership rates and add desperately needed housing in the city.
The development of the homes was made possible through the city’s allocation of American Rescue Plan Act dollars, and built by Stand Corporation with assistance from Building Futures construction pre-apprenticeship students.
The program helps prepare low-income individuals for careers in the construction industry.
The event will take place with Mayor Maria Rivera at 12 p.m.
