Former Rhode Island Governor Lincoln Chafee announced he is considering a run for President of the United States in 2016.

Chafee announced on his website, Chafee2016.com, that he is considering a run as a Democrat.

On his website, Chafee says he is proud to be one of the 23 U.S. Senators who disagreed with allowing Bush/Cheney to invade Iraq, and is committed to making “international decisions with brains and not biceps.”

He also mentions having “supported incentives and protections that help grow the middle class.”

Chafee has been elected for local, statewide and federal office nine times since 1985, including his term as Governor of Rhode Island from 2011 to 2015.
