Charlestown woman arrested for DUI on Thanksgiving

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WLNE) — The South Kingstown Police Department announced the arrest of a woman from Charlestown after she was allegedly driving impaired.
Police say 53-year-old Donna MacLean, of Charlestown, is charged with driving under the influence and failing to submit to a chemical test.
According to police, on Thursday, Nov. 23, at approximately 3:40 p.m., officers observed a black Toyota enter Main Street from Robinson Street erratically.
Officials said as the car turned onto Main Street, it struck a crosswalk warning sign and swerved side to side. Officers pulled the car over and identified the driver as MacLean.
Officers said MacLean’s speech was slurred and based on the performance of her field sobriety test, they arrested her for suspicion of driving under the influence of liquor or drugs.
MacLean was taken to the South Kingstown police Department where she refused a chemical test. She was charged and also issued a traffic summons for roadway violation.
She was arraigned and released on $1,000 bail and will return to court in December.
