Child shot in the head in Cranston, father in custody
CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — A child was shot in the head in Cranston on Tuesday morning.
Chief Michael Winquist said a 4-year-old boy was rushed to emergency surgery at Hasbro Children’s Hospital after they were shot in the head. The child was in critical condition.
The incident happened on the second floor of a home on Queen Street. Police blocked off part of the street as they investigated.
The child’s father was taken into custody on scene.
Police said the gun was not immediately recovered, and that the department needed a search warrant to enter the house.
Some of the residents in the house were known to police.
