Children compete in Race4Chase Triathlon after training all summer

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Youth from the Greater Providence YMCA took part in the CMAK Sandy Hook Memorial Foundation Race4Chase Triathlon on Sunday.

Participants trained for six weeks during the summer to take part in the race, which included swimming, biking, and running segments.

There were also participants from the Hale YMCA of Greater Hartford and the Middleboro Branch of the Old Colony YMCA.

The annual race is done in memory of Chase Kowalski and aims to “provide children with a safe, healthy, and positive outlet through the sport.”

“This event is a heartfelt tribute to Chase Kowalski’s memory and helps to reinforce important values like health, wellness, and community spirit in our youth,” YMCA CEO Karen Santilli said.
