China Concealed Extent of Virus Outbreak, U.S. Intelligence Says

Bloomberg reports China concealed the extent of the coronavirus outbreak in the country, under-reporting both total cases and deaths from the illness, according to U.S officials.

This information was included in a classified report to the White House.

According to Bloomberg, The U.S officials declined to detail the contents of the report, but the thrust is that China’s public reporting on cases was left incomplete intentionally.

Two officials state that the numbers China reported are fake.

One of the officials said the report was given to The White House last week, Bloomberg reports.

The spread of Coronavirus began in the Hubei province in late 2019, but the country publically reported only about 82,000 cases and 3,000 deaths.

This is according to data compiled by John Hopkins University.

That is more than 189,000 cases and over 4,000 deaths in the United States, which has the largest publically reported outbreak, Bloomberg reports.
