Christmas on the Hill kicks off Saturday night

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Christmas on the Hill kicked off Saturday as Federal Hill was decorated for the holidays.

According to Rick Simone on the Federal Hill Commerce Association, the festivities included live performances and free trolley rides.

Santa is also slated to make an appearance in DePasquale Plaza from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., followed by a performance by the Bishop Hendricken Choir and Providence’s first Christmas tree lighting at 5 p.m.

Also new this year is a nine-foot high, 12-point design star that was made in Germany.
