City board to discuss future of Providence nightclubs

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Two Providence nightclubs that were ordered to close following incidents of violence will appear before the Providence Board of Licenses today.
The Rhode Island Department of Business Regulation ordered Saje Kitchen to stay closed until today’s hearing show-cause hearing.
The restaurant’s owner was arrested back in November after he was allegedly involved in an altercation, and police allege he punched the victim during the fight.
Mezzo Lounge was also ordered to stay closed.
At the scene, police saw about 200 people from Club Mezzo and discovered several shell casings, as well as three vehicles with bullet damage.
Police say no witnesses came forward and there are no reported injuries.
Today’s hearing will take place at 4 p.m.
