City of Providence to require masks in all municipal buildings

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Mayor Jorge Elorza announced Monday that starting tomorrow, August 17, face masks will be required in all municipal buildings. Additionally, all city employees will be required to be fully vaccinated by October 1 or be subject to weekly coronavirus tests.
“In light of the delta variant and increased spread of COVID-19 in Providence, today we are announcing a measured approach that prioritizes the health and safety of our residents and employees,” said Mayor Jorge Elorza. “It is important now more than ever that everyone wear their masks, watch their distance and sign up to receive their COVID-19 vaccine.”
A statement from the City of Providence urges all residents to continue using remote services as much as possible.
Inside city buildings, social distancing measures, such as plexiglass barriers, separate entrances and exits, and traffic flow indicators will continue to stay in place.
