CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. (WLNE) — The Veterans Memorial Elementary School has temporarily closed three classrooms due to a mysterious rash that has affected 16 students and 2 staff members.
Superintendent Victor Capellan sent a statement Thursday saying that the school “temporarily closed three classrooms located in the lower level of the building, due to an unconfirmed connection with rashes seen on two teachers and several students.”
It is unknown what has caused the rashes, but a professional restoration company has been hired to carry out an extensive cleaning of the classrooms.
They are also completing an air quality test and pest control inspection. In addition, the Rhode Island Department of Health has been made aware of the issue.
Capellan said the classes have been relocated to the library.
