Clear but Cold Start to the Week!

A happy meteorological winter to you all! Meteorological winter begins on December 1st each year (we begin things on the first of the month, seasonally speaking, for the sake of record-keeping). That said, if winter isn’t your thing, you can wait to call the new season until December 21st: the winter solstice and start of astronomical winter.
All that said, mother nature isn’t waiting for anyone. Temperatures this Monday morning are only in the teens and 20s. This afternoon, high temperatures will only reach the upper 30s, with a few spots making an attempt at 40s. Tonight and tomorrow will be essentially identical to last night and today: lows in the low 20s, highs in the upper 30s with some sunshine.
Wednesday will be slightly warmer, with highs in the low 40s. We’ll start sunny but clouds will increase throughout the afternoon/evening. A clipper system (a small but punchy area of low pressure coming from Canada) will make its way to us Wednesday night. The result will be a wintry mix Wednesday night, turning to rain mid-morning on Thursday. We may see an additional mix as this system leaves Thursday afternoon.
Temperatures plummet once our clipper is gone, with Friday’s highs only reaching the mid 30s.
