Supporters of Hillary Clinton here in the Ocean State are disappointed by the Rhode Island loss, but not discouraged saying she had a big night elsewhere.

A few dozen supporters gathered at Congress Tavern in Providence to watch the election results.

"Well obviously I’d rather have a win but it’s all about the delegates. We all worked for very hard, the volunteers the staff in Rhode Island. I feel really good about what we did," said Paul O’Donnell.
The Secretary of State got over the 2,000 mark when it comes to the delegate count, pushing her closer to clinching the parties nomination.

"I believe the Sanders campaign will possibly reassess where they are and hopefully all democrats will talk about reuniting," said Joe McNamara the Chair of the Democratic Party in Rhode Island.

Prior to primary day the Clinton camp did make a huge push in the state. Hillary Clinton drew in well over a thousand at a campaign stop in Central Falls over the weekend and President Clinton came to the state twice. Her supporters now concede however that Bernie Sanders did have a big impact when it comes to young voters.

"Bernie sanders has caught the imagination of a lot of young voters and that’s good because getting young people involved in the process even if they don’t vote for my person is I think extremely important for the Democratic Party," said former Providence Mayor Joe Paolino.
