Cloudy, grim start to our Monday
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) –Dense fog made it tough for the commute early this morning, but most areas have improved and the clouds are left over the area. We do get breaks of sunshine today with highs reaching the mid to upper 70’s.
High pressure system moves out and the rain moves in tomorrow and will be with us for Tuesday. By Wednesday it tapers off, becoming more scattered around the area. We have a cold front that will push Hurricane Franklin away from us.
Speaking of… We are tracking the tropics…
Hurricane Franklin is now a category 3 hurricane moving NNW at 8mph.
Franklin is not going to make contact with the US, but it will bring some rough surf and gusty winds to Bermuda and that rough surf will be felt all the way along the east coast this week. For our area, expect moderate rip currents.
This is a concern as we are headed into a holiday weekend and many New Englanders head to the beaches.
