Coast Guard rescues 5 fishermen from burning boat east of Cape Cod

BOSTON, Mass. (WLNE)- The Coast Guard rescued five fisherman from a burning vessel 85 miles east of Cape Cod on Friday.

The Coast Guard said at 5 p.m. watchstanders received an emergency alert from the 100-found fishing boat, Nobska.

Coast Guard Air Station crews were launched, and found the bow and wheelhouse of the vessel engulfed in flames. All five fisherman were on the stern.

The air crew directed them into the water and safely hoisted them up and brought the fishermen back to shore.

No injuries were reported, according to the Coast Guard.

Weather on scene was 25 mph with six-foot seas.
