NEW BEDFORD, MASS. — Six people were rescued in New Bedford waters after a boat they were in started to sink.
The Coast Guard responded Sunday after a person on board made a call saying the 72-foot scallop boat was taking on water five miles off the coast.
At first, rescuers tried to control the flooding on board, but when that did not work, they began evacuating those on board.
No one was injured and the boat is remains sinking in the harbor.
The cause is under investigation.
