Coastal Storm To Bring Heavy Rain Thursday
There’s a looot going on in the forecast as we look ahead through the end of the week.
Starting tonight, we’ll have some mist & drizzle and a shower possible, as well as lows in the mid and upper 40s. Tomorrow is still cloudy and very cool for this time of year. Highs should be near 70 degrees, but we’ll be stuck in the 50s around Southern New England! We’ll have more mist and drizzle, and a few showers, especially in the afternoon and evening.
All of this is as we anticipate our a late-season Nor’Easter, which will be knocking on our door by Wednesday night, and soaking the region throughout the day Thursday.
It looks like showers will become widespread by the Thursday morning commute, and we’ll progress to heavy rain by the late morning. The heaviest of it looks to fall between about noon and 5 PM or so, but we’ll still likely have rain through the remainder of Thursday night. This storm will also drive gusty winds– numbers could surpass 35mph, especially in higher elevations and along the coast. Minor coastal flooding is not out of the question, but that looks to be more of an issue for the South Shore and the Cape. Highs will be in the upper 40s to mid 50s.
The storm pulls to the northeast after midnight, and continues to move away in the early hours of Friday. We’re still looking at a few showers on Friday, but nothing like Thursday’s super-soaking rain. Highs will only be in the upper 50s.
Saturday, the improvement continues. We can’t count out a stray shower, but the day is mostly dry with highs in the low 60s. Sunday is even a little better, with maybe a stray shower, but a mix of sun & clouds and highs in the mid to upper 60s.
So far, Memorial Day looks like it has the potential to be the nicest day of the next 7! Monday looks mostly sunny and dry with highs in the upper 60s and low 70s.
