Cold and windy weather to follow overnight rain and snow
The rain is coming down out there as our ‘clipper’ has moved into Southern New England. As we creep past midnight, rain will begin changing over to snow well north and west.
For portions of western Providence and Kent counties, this will amounting to a slushy coating to 1″ of snow, mainly on colder/grassy surfaces. For the rest, we pick up a much-needed .5″ of rain.
Winds will also begin howling into Thursday morning. We could see gusts over 40 mph across the board throughout the day. Cold air also begins to spill into the Northeast behind the clipper.
Highs on Thursday will be in the low 40s, but feeling much colder with the wind. Highs on Friday will barely get above freezing!
However, things will moderate over the weekend and into next week. We should be back to around 50° on Monday. We are also looking at more unsettled weather for several days next week.
That is great news for our drought situation!
