College Campuses open Drive-thru test sites.
WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — Drive-thru test sites for COVID-19 are now open at 3 college campuses in Rhode Island.
The National Guard has 150 soldiers working the test sites at Rhode Island College, the University of Rhode Island, and at the Community College of Rhode Island’s Warwick campus.
Each location can administer up to 300 tests per day. Patients have ushered through a series of tents, where they provide ID and medical documentation, before being swabbed for the virus.
Tests are only available to people who have a doctor’s recommendation and a scheduled appointment. Anyone without a doctor’s note will not be allowed on campus.
Tests take about 2.5 minutes to complete and results will be sent to a patient’s physician a few days later.
The Rhode Island Department of Health says the drive-thru testing sites will help them understand where the virus is spreading in the state, and how to combat it.
